Best Oscars 2020 Red Carpet Dresses

Feb 13

While Oscars 2020 nominees were nervously waiting for the Little Golden Man to fall off the stage, the mood of the costume modeling team waiting behind the stage was no less than that of their stars. No matter whether celebrities get the desired award or not, their appearance on the red carpet will become one of the hottest fashion topics for a very long time, and the designers’ dazzling work is expected to become classics that will still be praised decades later as the best oscar red carpet dresses.

ValueQ took a look at the most shiny and sparkling star looks on the red carpet at the 2020 Oscars Ceremony to prepare this list of the Best Oscar red carpet dresses. Let's have a look at the visual creativity celebrities and their outstanding designer teams have brought in 2020!

Saoirse Ronan

The heroine of the new version of "Little Women", Silsa Ronan, appeared on the red carpet wearing ladylike hair and light fringe, finishing the look with Chanel natural orange powder and a black skirt. Simple and elegant, so we have included Ronan’s 2020 outfir into our “Best Oscar red carpet dresses” list.

Natalie Portman Dior

The trimmed bobber with a big wave of micro-curly hair has been a popular fashion trend for the last 20 years and brought charm to Natalie's look. The golden lace on the chest combined with Dior black dress look luxurious and sexy, which is definitely one of the greatest  Oscar red carpet dresses.

Penelope Cruz

Penelope's long dark brown straight hair complements the Chanel black halter dress with a large white bow. The neutral-tone makeup comes from Lancome, showing a matte and soft finish.

Though Penelope's dual-hem dress might seem a bit hard to put off most starlets of the red carpet, but she managed it well. The bodice and nipped-in waist look incredibly nice on the popular Spanish actress, making it one of the most shining 2020 Oscar red carpet dresses.

Cynthia Erivo

The white one-shouldered dress embellished with countless crystal diamonds and combined with ultra-short hair dyed into pure white, forms a contrast with Cynthia's black pearl-like skin. Large brown smoky eye makeup reduces the harshness of dark tones, making her face softer and younger.

Maya Rudolph

Compared with Natalie's curvy hairstyle, Maya's straight wave head is more simple, and bright purple eye shadows make the entire look more vibrant.

Lucy Boynton

If you don't take a closer look, people's eyes will focus on Lucy's exaggerated thick false eyelashes and bright scarlet lip makeup, ignoring the row of pearls on the hairline. The dress decorated with Scottish puff sleeves has a retro girly look.

Salma Hayek

Looking at the figure of Salma, it is hard not to think that this is a goddess from Greek mythology: noble high top hair, white pleated skirt, silver laurel hair ornaments decorated with pearls and the earrings of the similar style. This set of jewelry from Yves Saint Laurent shows purity and elegance as the core to reflect the unique temperament of Salma.

Janelle Monae

You can always be sure that Janelle Monae will surprise everyone on the red carpet with her looks. For Oscars 2020 Ceremony, the singer appreared in a crystal back-less gown from Ralph Lauren, decorated by a shining hood, one of the most eye-catching Oscar red carpet dresses.

Janelle's silver and white crystal dress is crafted of 168 000 crystals of different sizes. The hooded design made her look like a noble woman who passed through the Middle Ages. The silver eye shadows give her eyes a beautiful frosty look.

Billie Eilish

Although 19-year-old singer is not directly related to the Oscars 2020 awards, her fluorescent green and black gradient hair is definitely in the centre of everyone’s attention. The combination of exquisite white lace girlish dress from Chanel and large gemstone rings looks just like Billie Eilish, young and extravagant.

Margot Robbie

It's no wonder that Chanel ambassador wears a design created by this fashion house. But unexpected is the age of this dress. Margot Robbie had a shining moment, stepping out on the red carpet, dressed in a vintage Chanel outfit from the 1994 spring/summer collection, which is the oldest among all the Oscar red carpet dresses 2020, added by disconnected sleeves.

Long curly hair, bright orange-toned red lips and black vintage dress with a huge brooch give Robbie an old Hollywood-style look, making it difficult for people to associate her with "Suicide Squad" and street punk clown, but this is exactly what the stylist want.

Billy Porter

Although not in the top ten of the best Oscar red carpet dresses, the outfit chosen by Billy Potter once again created a lot of buzz in fashion sphere due to an unexpectedly neutral look. His appearance on the red carpet last year is still hot.

This year Potter appeared in a sleeveless dress decorated with gold foil feather and large round rhinestones, becoming a hit of the red carpet.

Brie Larson

Brie Larson preferred a slim, shimmering gown, so the dress she chose at the Oscars 2020 Ceremony is not only one of her best but also one of the best Oscar red carpet dresses 2020. The actress combined her glittering Celine gown with a suitable floor-length mantle, which produced a marvellous effect.

Renee Zellweger

It often happens that the most simple dresses are the most eye-catching. One-shouldered of Renee Zellweger from Armani fashion house was covered in incredible beading, that shone in the light as the actress moved - a design suitable for a Leading Actress Award winner and a great candidate for the best Oscar red carpet dresses 2020.

Florence Pugh

Florence Pugh, nominated for the role in “Little Women”, had a lot of fun with her fashion looks throughout 2020 fashion season - and Oscars 2020 was not an exception. Florence chose green multi-tiered Louis Vuitton couture dress. She combined it with perfectly fitting sandals with straps and studs by Maria Tash.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron again preferred her failure-safe combination of Dior and a classic silhouette for the red carpet 2020, and demonstrated once again that it is a winning Oscars 2020 fashion recipe, enlisted into the best Oscar red carpet dresses.

Olivia Colman

As is traditional for the ruling Leading Actress Award winner, Olivia Colman took part in Oscars 2020 ceremony to grant the Gold Man statue to the Leading Actor this year - and she did it, wearing an extremely elegant dress, designed by Stella McCartney fashion house with the train of a contrast color, boastfully showing her new blonde hair.

Zazie Beetz

The star of the much-buzzed-about “Joker”  wore a corset from Tom Browne and a skirt, combined with shimmering heels, a shining necklace and her natural curly hair.
